Day 38- The New Covenant in My Blood

Two words are able to sum up the entire Bible:  Covenant for the Old Testament and Kingdom for the New Testament.  The Old Covenant was ratified in the shedding of animal blood. The covering of sin through the blood of bulls was a temporary substitute and entered through obedience to the Law and handed down from God Almighty to Moses on the top of Mt. Sinai as recorded in the book of Exodus.  But the demands of the Law was a hard taskmaster and for 2,000 years relentlessly exposed the inner darkness of man's heart. One thing was certain, man was wholly unable to meet the requirements of a Holy God.  But Jesus came to usher in a New Covenant between God and mankind. A covenant not based on the death of an animal but on the death of Christ, the Son of God, the Perfect Sacrifice, the Lamb Slain Before the Foundations of the world. The New Covenant in His Blood soon to be poured out on a Roman cross for the forgiveness of sins would usher in the Kingdom of God and create a new man.  Access to this Kingdom would be accessed by grace through faith in the finished work and sacrifice of Christ. His sinless life, a substitute offered and accepted by God, for the sins of all mankind. It was the Great Exchange.  It was for this that Jesus had been sent.  He walked among men, proclaiming the Gospel of the Kingdom, preaching repentance and demonstrating the power, love and reality of the Kingdom of God through signs, wonders, and miracles. There was no other way, no other authority or kingdom by which man could be saved. And now, The Sacrifice was sitting among them.
